We switched to full cow's milk last week Friday evening. Prior to that, JOE had been doing great on breastmilk. However, I ran out of breastmilk ahead of time due to the fact that she started consuming more. Something I didn't anticipate when I stopped pumping. Chuck that up to first time mommy mistake :-(.
Anyways, since Tuesday, we've been dealing with her not feeling well and it is somewhat frustrating to see my little baby cry out of frustration.
We have even allowed her to have her binky during the day. Something we successfully weaned her off of. Hopefully, it doesn't become a habit again.
We're taking her to see the pediatrician this evening. Hoping that they can offer her some relief because she really needs it.
My dad was right when he said having kids is like watching your heart walk around on the outside. Seeing my baby cry in pain has me all twisted up on the inside.
The one positive thing is that she continues to smile when she isn't in pain. I love that about her!
Hope you're having a good week so far! Just one more day to the weekend!!!
I hope she gets better soon! Did your ped recommend switching her off cow's milk- maybe she has an intolerance?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Hubby and I think she just might have an intolerance or sensitivity to milk. We are going to try a couple of alternatives for the next few days to see if it'll help.
DeleteI feel so bad for you two. Have you tried soy milk? Maybe she has an intolerance to one of the proteins in cows milk?
ReplyDeleteThanks. We haven't tried soymilk. We are thinking of trying almond milk and skipping cow's milk altogether. She was vomiting with 2% milk and now having the opposite issue with whole milk so I think she does have a sensitivity to something in cow's milk.
DeleteGoing to try a few things and hope something works soon.
Awww, sorry sis. It's not easy being a mom, we ache when they do. My baby still takes his growing-up formula, he's only 13 months old. He refuses to drink cow's milk, but when I mix it in his formula he doesn't notice, and has no reactions. I think something in cow's milk doesn't agree with your little one. I love how she smiles even when she's in pain, precious child! God bless you both. *kisses*
ReplyDeleteAwww...thanks Joy. I appreciate that! I am thinking we just might eliminate cow's milk altogether for now. We tried her on baby formula when she was a couple of weeks old and she threw up the entire time. She hasn't had any since then. We tried some baby rice and oatmeal cereal but she has refused those as well so now we are going to try to solve by elimination.
DeleteGod will heal her and give us the knowledge we need to figure out a solution to this. I appreciate your suggestion! :-)
I hope little JOE is feeling better. I know the frustration when we're powerless comes to seeing our little ones suffer
ReplyDeleteShe is feeling much better. Thank you!
DeleteI'm feeling so sad to read this. Do you have an update? Did her doctor recommend something differently? How is she doing now? Sending prayers her way.
ReplyDeleteShe is doing so much better. I am glad she'll be able to fully enjoy her birthday :-).
DeleteSo sorry to hear that JOE is not dong well. It's tough being a mom you know, sometimes your best is just not enough but don't despair, keep trusting your extinct and do the best that you can.
ReplyDeleteGood luck you guys, do keep us updated. Praying for you guys
Thank you! She is doing so much better. Being a parent is really tough. I don't think I ever fully understood until I became one myself :-).
