OPINIONS NEEDED. PLEASE BE SURE TO CAST YOUR VOTE AFTER YOU'VE READ THIS POST!!!
My one year post texlax anniversary is this Friday. Wow...I can't believe it's been a year.
If you've been following my hair journey, you'll know I said I'll be making my decision around 12-months or 17-months. I have now reached the 12-month mark and for the most part, the back of my hair is natural. However, the front still has some processed ends.
I am still undecided on what to do but one thing is for sure...I have been rather scissor happy the last few weeks and it has gotten worse. Case in point...
I did this at 48-weeks post texlax.
I made the mistake of wearing my hair out that week and needless to say, this is what I did at work! I found a piece that just didn't look right so yes, I used office scissors to get rid of it. I wrapped it up and took it home to toss because I didn't want to risk anyone finding my precious lock of hair...I know...special :-/.
Now, you'd think I would stop the madness right there and then right? Nope...this occurred the following Saturday.
I mean, it got to a point where I was surprised I even had any hair left on my head! J, the wise husband that he is just didn't even bat an eye anymore when he saw me with my hair scissors. He'd just smile and say "I'll be downstairs and will come running if I hear you screaming or crying!"
Anyways, the madness FINALLY stopped at 50-weeks post texlax.
I have always said I want my hair to be able to go in a bun since I am so low maintenance. Now, I'll settle for an OK puff. I was hoping that by now, it would be able to get there but not really. The back can but certainly not the front. So, what to do? What to do?
Here are some of the styles I have been rocking the last few weeks.
As you can see, most of the texlaxed ends are in front. I still have a few strangglers at the back but they have since been chopped :-D.
So fast forward to last week Friday. I was exactly 51-weeks at this point. I decided to try to do one of my go-to styles but instead of adding the faux puff clip in I typically use, I would use my own hair. And surprise, it worked!
Granted, the puff is still rather small but it is doable and wearable. I am starting to tire of the faux puff anyways so I think this is the style I'll be rocking from here on out until I decide.
Or something like this. Which is what I wore all weekend long. Check out our happy faces!
Anyways, to conclude this post, I'd like to get your opinions as far as my next steps. I am trying to decide if I should clip the rest of the texlaxed ends this weekend or stick with them until Christmas (I am guessing I'll be able to get it in the puff by then) or wait until next February.
Thoughts? Scroll up and vote! I'll be making my decision on Saturday 10/11/14 and will post an update next week.
Your puff looks very nice! Your natural hair looks really shiny and smooth. I love the happy face picture- too cute!
ReplyDeleteYou already know my feelings so I'll just let others chime in. :)
ReplyDeleteYup. :-). You'll be glad to know I followed your advise after years of asking you :-).
DeleteI was like you nearing the end ... I just did not want anymore relaxed ends so I just finally did it and chopped it off! I think the fact that you keep cutting means that you are done and you don't want to deal with two textures anymore. I feel that you should just keep doing what you feel like doing, soon there will be no more processed ends to get rid of!
ReplyDeleteYou are definitely right. I think I was at a point where I just wanted to start afresh. Will post updates this week.
DeleteI say go ahead and chop it all off. Your natural hair is looking so good already and you don't have much relaxer left in your hair. I am so proud of you for sticking it out, a whole year natural, that's a great achievement.
ReplyDelete:-). Good advise. I'll post updates at some point this week.
DeleteYup, i'm with Faith and Pegster on this. Sounds like you have the chop itch :). Just do it ;).
ReplyDeleteYup yup! Update will be posted this week :-D.
DeleteI also agree with the majority. If there is only a little relaxer left in your hair, you may as well chop it off. It does seem as if you've been wanting to do it, so I say, go for it... :)
ReplyDeleteTrue that. I am looking forward to starting afresh. I'll post updates this week.
