I am now officially 47+ weeks post texlax (will be 48-weeks tomorrow). Its been a pretty painless journey for the most part. Like I have said in the past, I never really did much with my hair so this transitioning process has given me the perfect excuse to do even less :-D.
I have been rather tired in the evenings so for the most part, I have been wearing my hair in a bun.
But here are some styles I have tried in recent weeks. I think these'll likely be my "go to" styles once I finish chopping the rest of my processed ends.

Flat twists with my faux puff at the back. I love this style so much, I wore it for my sister's wedding. |
Wedding hair. Side view. |
Wedding hair. Front view. Yup...JOE and I were sporting matching hair styles. Except that's all her hair and I needed a faux puff :-D. |
This was a simple "wrap around" twist I did a few weeks ago. I was lazy, it was easy and it worked :-D. |
Then last weekend, at 47-weeks post, I am not quite sure what happened but I deep conditioned my hair, washed it and then got a pair of scissors.
I still don't know what I was thinking!
Thankfully, my sanity returned and I stopped before I did too much damage. Well, not entirely. I have always said my hair needs to be able to fit in a puff. Well, the back and middle fit but then I noticed as I was chopping in front that it wasn't long enough. That was the reality check I needed so I STOPPED!!!
Needless to say, the back of my hair and the sides for the most part are now completely natural (chemical free) and the front still has some processed ends.
With my shea butter mix.
To celebrate my birthday dinner that evening, I decided instead of doing the regular updo, I would do something different.
So I threw on a hair band. Woohoo!!! That should tell you how lazy I am with my hair because that was my idea of "doing something to it" :-).
Do you have any hair goals? If so, what are they and how are they coming along?
Have a blessed weekend and remember to be kind to strangers!
I love your wedding makeup. You looked flawless! I totally understand you when you talk about scissor-happiness! UGH. I had a lot of split ends to take care of so last week I had the grand idea to first blow dry my hair straight and then trim it. I overestimated on how much to trim, and now that my hair is back to curly, it's much shorter! LOL. My hair goal is to go back to trimming my hair in its curly state. I think I just got too curious and excited to see it straight. HaHa. Your bday pic with your hubby is very cute. I think you did a good job "doing something" to your hair! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. My sister had a professional makeup artist for the wedding so I got mine done. :-).
DeleteLOL...Seriously, the scissor happy thing is for real. Since this post, I have done 2 more mini-chops. I think I am addicted! :-).
Oh no! Lol. Someone's going to have to hide the scissors from you! ;-)
DeleteI hid them from myself last night and found them again this morning when I was getting ready and saw a couple of stray pieces :-). Just found one while at work and trying so hard to not get out a pair of office scissors and snip snip snip.
DeleteOh dear, you may really be addicted! HAHA! This made me laugh! :)
DeleteI think it's so cute. I especially love the flat twists. You have gorgeous hair doll.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You have always encouraged me through this journey. I appreciate it. You're a true friend :-D.
DeleteYAY for healthy hair that you love and doesn't require much work. Your hair journey is going so well, I am so happy for you. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI totally have a hair goal of reaching waist length someday. Maybe when I am finally done having babies it can finally happen :)
I so love that you and JOE had matching hairstyles. I would totally do that with my future daughter or niece one day ;)
Yay indeed! I think I will like this natural journey. So far so good. You'll get there soon. Your hair looks great and you take such good care of it.
DeleteHaha, putting a headband in the hair IS doing something to it! I'm so lazy with creating different styles that I don't often put a headband because of the extra time it takes, lol. But your hair is looking so good! Love the way it was at the wedding, you looked gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Happy I have someone else who is like me in that regard :-). Thank you!
DeleteI love the flat twists the best, too. My daughter wears her hair that way sometimes and I think it's so cute. By the way, I agree, you looked amazing at your sister's wedding.
ReplyDeleteMy hair goal is to do something totally different with my hair, but I'm not sure what. Even hubby is requesting a new look since I wear it the same way all the time... (not good). I'm thinking I may get it cut it in a short cute style in time for the holidays... :)
Thank you! I like how easy it is to do :-).
DeleteAsk hubby what styles he'd like to see you have. He might surprise you. Do post pics of your cut if/when you do it.
my hair goals are to get an actual haircut. My mom has been trimming the back of my hair and I sometimes trim my bangs and any stray pieces that look fried... I think an actual hairdresser might cry if I sat in their chair! You have had quite the hair journey, whatever you decide to do natural or processed your hair should be pretty strong and healthy. your wedding hair-do is my fave :)
ReplyDeleteLOL...I am sure hairdressers see all hair types all the time. Your hair must really be growing though now that you're expecting. With my last pregnancy, my hair grew like weed!
DeleteThank you. It is also my favorite hair do since it requires little time on my part. :-D
