A car show + a Superbowl = a weekend of cooking.

We had a nice and packed weekend. On Saturday, we decided to "divide and conquer". I had to go to my follow up contact lens appointment and J had to run a couple of errands.

JOE came with me and she would not sit still. She wanted to see and touch EVERYTHING in sight! Thankfully, the doctor was patient and understanding. An hour later, I got new contact lenses AGAIN and will have to go back for a follow up. I know...I should just give up and wear glasses full time. I plan on doing it 80% of the time. But I also like the freedom and "smudge-free" lenses. JOE has a thing for grabbing my glasses and smearing her fingers on them.
Anyways, I have to go back again to make sure they got the prescription right this time.

On Sunday after Church, J, JOE & I all headed to the DC Auto Show. I really didn't want to go cause cars are J's thing but I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually nice with the exception of chasing JOE around whenever she decided to make a run for it.

We got a couple of invites to Superbowl parties but we decided instead to stay at home and relax as a family.
I was rooting for the Seahawks since I am a New England Patriots fan and both the Manning brothers have in the past foiled my team's dreams of getting another Lombardi trophy. Yes, I was smiling when the Seahawks won :-).
The following morning though, I read about Peyton Mannings reaction afterwards. He seemed pretty cool about it and wasn't trying to point the finger at anyone. He praised his team and didn't bad-mouth anyone. He has earned my respect in that regard. I will still root for the Patriots though :-).

Anyways, here are pictures from our packed weekend.

The new Corvette. WICKED cool!!!

This is JOE's face when she doesn't want to listen to me. I told her to stop trying to get out of her stroller and she has the "who? me?" look. Oy!

She really thinks she can drive. My car has a keyless start and she kept looking for the button to try to start the cars.

The look she gives you when you THINK you are next in line to get in the car :-).

Bumblebee!!! If you've seen the movie Transformers, you know what I mean :-).

She didn't want to get out of this car. She wanted to touch all the buttons. Yes, she was fully cleaned and hand-sanitized after this little excursion..

This is a driving ad-car. A "Fun-vii". You couldn't get in but I am curious to know how it looks from the inside.

J came with a tape measure to ensure that we could at some point comfortably fit 2-carseats in the back of our future car. I was surprised that the Cadillac didn't make the cut! We aren't getting a new car anytime soon but my hubby likes to plan ahead.

My little one having fun.

"hmmm...daddy was supposed to be watching my diaper bag. I wonder what I can get from it before he turns around and sees me"

I thought this was cool. Its all bar stools.

All bicycles.

All tennis rackets.

All guitars.

All Kayaks.
Then it was time for dinner. I decided to make some spicy Buffalo chicken wings using this recipe from Pinterest. It was very yummy and tasted quite good.

Spices I used. I forgot to take a picture but I also added some white wine vinegar.

Flour with some salt and pepper added.

Got a giant bag of wings from the Super Walmart by us when they were on sale. A bag of about 35-wings cost $9. Not bad.

The sauce with the spices and butter. I made too much sauce. We still have some leftover. Trying to figure out what I can do with it.

I liked that this recipe did not call for working with eggs. It was just rinsing the chicken and putting it in the flour then in the deep fryer.

I am getting lots of use from my deep fryer. I still hate the smell of oil that lingers in the house forever. I need to find a better solution. I looked up oven baked buffalo chicken wings. Will likely try that another time.

From the frying pan...

Into the fire...fiery sauce that is.

YUM YUM YUM YUM!!!!

JOE on the other hand didn't want any chicken. She wanted broccoli so I sauteed some for her.

I also made burgers and meatballs. Overall, it was a nice weekend. When my team isn't playing, I watch it for the commercials and half time and they were both quite entertaining.
My favorite ad was the one with the Cheerios ad with the kid whose dad had just told her she would be having another sibling. It made me laugh out loud.

Bruno Mars definitely killed it with his performance. Even JOE was mesmerized by him :-).

Have a wonderfully blessed week!

    1. It was fun looking at all the cars. I think the one thing I came away with is that we definitely made the right choice as far as our recent purchase.

Yeah...JOE can be a ham sometimes with her facial expressions.

Wings are surprisingly easy to make. Give it a shot and let me know how it tastes. This was also my first time making these.

    1. Thank you. Yup...she is getting more. FINALLY! She didn't have any for the longest time. Her 4th just came out and I felt a couple last night. I am thankful for that because if she didn't get more by her 15-month appointment (in the next 2-weeks), the doctor would have sent us to a specialist. Glad that was not necessary.

The show is in Baltimore now if you are still interested in going.

    1. Yup. J was right that she would enjoy the experience. She sure did. Homegirl's immune system must be pretty good because her germaphobe mommy didn't want to touch anything but she didn't care. I did wipe her hands afterwards but she was cool about it :-).
It was awesome. Going to be another busy one. I am hosting brunch with some gal pals. Our first real gathering...fun!
      Have a fab weekend!
