Weekend in pictures

It was a pretty busy but fun weekend.

On Friday evening, we dropped JOE off and J & I headed to J's holiday party. We had a great time and it was nice to be able to get out for a couple of hours. I was bone tired but I enjoyed hanging out with J without thinking about what JOE would eat or trying to stop her from playing with everything in sight. I did miss my baby girl though :-).

On Saturday morning, JOE slept in quite late! And when she got up, she was in a happy mood. I quickly gave her a bath and she didn't even scream when I took her out. Oftentimes, she wants to stay in the water until her fingers are pruned! Anyways, we got ready and headed off to go have breakfast with Santa!

Here she is in her wrapping paper dress that I made. I am glad she is still young enough to not complain about wearing a home-made dress :-).

Another one of her. She wouldn't stay still so J had to hold her for a bit :-).

Sadly, breakfast with Santa was NOT a success. She was TERRIFIED!!! I was only able to get one picture because she was holding on to her dad for her dear life and there were other kids waiting to take pictures with Santa.
We are going to try to go get another one taken today at the mall. Praying she cooperates. If not, its cool. Santa will still bring her something for Christmas :-).
Yup...that's my kid!

I guess after the whole ordeal, she did NOT want her picture taken in the car. Oy!
In the evening,we joined our neighbors for a fun holiday dinner. We have awesome neighbors and definitely lucked out in that department.

On Sunday, we went to Church. After the service, we walked around and they had a Live nativity scene at the front of the church. How cool is that?

After we left Church, we went to a friend's daughter's 1st birthday party. It was a Winter Wonderland themed party and everything turned out great!

Our table decor.

Candy treats to go!

Gift bags and a photo station for the guests.

Cupcakes. HAPPY!!! They were quite yummy!

Birthday cupcakes. How cute is this?

A sandwich and soup station.

A hot chocolate bar. The pink things you see there in the middle are peppermint marshmallows. Why am I just discovering them? They were DELICIOUS!!! And all the condiments to go with the hot chocolate was awesome!

The drink station.

Of course I had to get a picture of me as a polar bear. This was just so cool!

Me and J. Gotta love a man who isn't' afraid to wear a pink scarf and ear muffs. LOL!

JOE and her playful self :-). Take 1.

Take 2...

Take 3. Oh forget it...she refused to stay still. She wanted to walk around and mingle :-).

Then I got this to wrap up my weekend. Let me preface this by saying I LOVE shopping on amazon.com. It is absolutely my go to site for a lot of things and for a busy mom with not a lot of time to go shopping, it is awesome.
So last week, I ordered red buttons for a dress I was thinking of making. Buttons cost $5.34.

Please explain to my why I got the buttons and the price on them was $2.29!!! I tried to process a return BUT it would cost $5.22 to return them. NOT EVEN WORTH IT!!! Needless to say, I was NOT happy. I know its not a lot of money but I am a bargain shopper and like to find deals where I can. This was NOT a deal!

I hope you had an awesome weekend! Just a few more days to Christmas. I am very much looking forward to it.

  1. That dress is so cute on her! I think even if she is older she will love the fact that she is getting an original dress that no one else would have but her.

The picture of her with Santa made me laugh out loud. I love the ones where the kid is freaking out a bit. Does that make me horrible? ;)

    1. Thank you! Hopefully, she really feels that way :-).

Yeah...we decided last night not to make another attempt. No need to torture the kid. Hopefully, next year, she'll do better.
You are not horrible. I laughed too when I first looked at the picture :-).

  2. Abby and Jordan are twinsies. Abby was not having it with Santa either. I did a test run at the mall and she tensed up just at the sight of him so I didn't even bother getting in line. I hope your mall Santa trial goes better than mine!

    1. Lol...really? I am glad its not just Jordan then. It was kinda funny to watch her though.

We made the same decision as you and decided not to take her there last night. No need to waste money and scare her even further.

  3. I love how you create lovely dresses for JOE. That picture with Santa is hilarious. I tool AOI last year and she was petrified but she sat down long enough to get a picture with Santa.

I don't know if I will take her again this year.

    The party looks lovely

    1. Thank you. It was quite funny! She just did not want to have anything to do with Santa.

Hopefully, AOI does better this time if you do chose to go. JOE did not even want to be close to Santa let alone sit on his lap.

  4. I love how the dress turned out on JOE! I wish I could make some of my baby's clothes! I think you should contact Amazon and let them know that you paid more than MSRP on a product they sold. Well first, find out if it was shipped an sold by Amazon or someone else. On 20/20 about two or three weeks ago Amazon's CEO (or whatever his title is) was talking about how they thrive off making very little profit. I think it's unacceptable- even if it is a $2.93 difference. I would send them that very same picture and express your displeasure.

    1. Thank you. It really is easy. With the help of pinterest, a few YouTube videos and a handy machine from amazon.com, you can do the same thing. There are so many free patterns out there.

I can't seem to figure out how to process it without being asked to return the item. It isn't worth it for me to do a return so I am letting it go. Amazon has been VERY helpful in the past when I had a complaint which is why I am not more pissed off about it. I guess it is a lesson learned. I should have read the reviews in hind sight.

  5. Loving JOE's dress, you did a good job with that. JOE and Jbird were so not interested in Santa this year. They'll have a great time next year when they are more aware of how amazing he is :).

Loving the pic of you and J at the party, you guys look like you had a ball. What a fun weekend.
