Fun weekend with friends

Last weekend, a dear college friend of mine hosted a series of events called "Celebrating All Good Things".

J & I had an AMAZING time. We met with other couples in Virginia at a place called Cookology. I love when couples get together and work together. It was just so awesome. If you are a fan of the Food Network, this place was like a real life version of Iron Chef.

We were split into 2 groups and given instructions. Each group was tasked with making a 4-course meal in an hour! Yup...an hour. I often wondered how they were able to do it on TV. Well, our group was living proof that it is doable.

The meal had to consist of a vegetable (salad would suffice), a protein, a carb (rice, pasta, couscous) and a dessert. The meals was going to be served to our team with an extra dish for the instructor who would be the judge.

My group made a Mediterranean Salad (green), a spicy chicken dish (protein) a Curried Pasta dish (carb) and yummy chocolate brownie (dessert).

This is what we started with. The tables were set up with different ingredients.

More ingredients.

Our table had each place setting complete with knives and chopping board.

The other team's working area.

Here we are getting instructions for the meal. This is a shot of the other team.

Our team.

Our pasta dish. It was DELISH! EVERYONE (including the other team) AND the instructor said it was AWESOME!

The chocolate brownie. I'll have to post the recipe for this at some point. It was DELICIOUS! We even made home made whipped cream to add on there.

The finished product. All done in an hour!

This chef was TIRED but happy. It was one of the best couples experiences I have ever had.

After the event, we all ate and the judge declared our team as THE WINNERS!!! WooHoo!!! Our dishes were AWESOME!

From there, we went to a dance studio where we burned the calories we had just consumed. We danced our behinds off and the instructor even gave us lessons in Bollywood dancing. It was really cool.

J & I had to leave early to get JOE so we couldn't stay for dinner. We hope to be able to do something similar with friends at some point next year because we just had so much fun!

Have you ever done anything like this before? If so, did you enjoy it? What are some fun couples events you've attended with other couples? I'd like to get ideas for future planning.

Have an awesome and safe weekend and remember to be nice to strangers!

  1. I did something similar to this with a co-worker, it was hosted by a vendor. It was totally fun and bonus- we got the yummy recipes for everything we made! I'm glad you and J had a fun hubby-wifey time. :)

  2. Congrats! That's great that your group won. I've never heard of an event like that for couples that included dancing, but what a wonderful idea. Once for a date night, hubby and I went to a 'taste of Italy' cooking class for couples. We learned how to make Stromboli. I would love to do something like that again, too. It was so much fun... :)

    1. Thank you! We are a competitive bunch. The dancing was a lot of fun. It was at a recreational center and basically, they got an instructor to teach us different dance moves. Was really fun since we were able to burn off a small amount of the calories we had just consumed :-D.
